1. Empowerment of the self encapsulates the concepts of "liberation, equality, choice and freedom". Oriental dance allows the attainment of empowerment through developing self confidence and self respect and allowing you to express it through movement and art whilst improving physical, mental and psychological health.
2. The beauty of oriental dance lies in the fact that it does not 'discriminate'. Oriental dance is for any woman or man irrespective of age, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation/gender identity, body type etc. It creates spaces for diversity and expression, it's 'liberating' and most importantly, allows you to be whoever you want to be.
3. Practicing oriental dance is an extension of my feminist way of living. It gives me the ability to choose how I present my art, my body and my soul to the world. The hard work begins when trying to convince the world that my dance is an art form and not a sought out opportunity to make myself sexually attractive to others.
