Cheri discovered her passion for oriental dance when she joined Ajsa Samia’s
International Oriental Dance School in Cape Town in 2007. She started performing with the performance group Ajsa Samia and Palace of the Winds in 2008.
Since then, Cheri has performed as a solo and group performer both internationally (Germany, Switzerland, Latvia, USA) and nationally (Johannesburg and Port Elizabeth and Cape Town) in a wide range of productions, festivals, carnivals, shows, private events and at restaurants. Whilst residing in Los Angeles, California, reading for her Masters in Law in gender, health and human rights at UCLA, for 10 months, Cheri was trained by Stevie Cabaret also known as Stefanya of the Bellydance Superstars, Katya Malaya and the legendary Adam Basma. She also took workshops from various other popular oriental dancers.
Cheri taught beginners oriental dance classes in Los Angeles, performed at restaurants, festivals and events including at the Arabic Arts Festival with the popular Arabic folkloric dance troupe, the Adam Basma Dance Company.
